 PERSPECTIVES ON SLAVERY AND ITS TIES TO ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL LIBERALISM IN EUROPEIn the spirit Chancellor Christ's recent initiative to mark the 400th anniversary of the arrival of enslaved Africans in the English colonies, IES is proud to sponsor an event on Capitalism and Freedom examining the involvement of various European powers in the transatlantic slave trade and the implications of this involvement for political liberalism and the economic system of capitalism.
Please join us on February 5 as two distinguished scholars--Tyler Stovall, Dean of the Humanities at UC Santa Cruz and Caitlin Rosenthal, Assistant Professor of History at UC Berkeley--take on this important topic.
